I Corinthians 6:19-20
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
This scripture changed my whole perspective on healthy eating and exercise. When you think of your body as the place that God himself dwells it changes your perspective about what you put into it and what you do with it. Verse 20 clearly informs us that we’ve been bought with a price and that we are to honor God with our bodies. That’s not just abstaining from pre-marital sex, or sex outside of our marriage (those were some of the issues that Paul was addressing in his letter to the Corinthians). I believe honoring God also includes what we eat and how we treat our bodies. You, my dear friend, are God’s temple. Honor God with your body.
